Our good friend Larry Beacham did a phenomenal corporate training for our Primary Business last night on the “Virtual Handshake” and Toby and I were so moved we needed to share this with everyone!

The Virtual Handshake is something that if done properly, can open up a lot of doors and new connections using the Internet.

For those of you out there that are skilled with Traditional Offline you know what we’re about to explain.

When you meet a potential prospect, or recruit someone while you’re out… (Don’t go out to prospect, Prospect while you’re out!)… you do not vomit your business opp all over them do you?

You introduce yourself, your swap a business card, and basically decide if you’ll talk again.

So why do some come on to the Internet and upon initial contact start spurting about their compensation plan and ORAC Score??!?!

• You need to build rapport!

• You have got to have romance before you propose!

So how do you really do an

effective Virtual Handshake?

Step #1: Find Your Target Market…

If you were trying to put together a winning Basketball team you would recruit basketball players like Michael Jordan and Lebron James right?

You’re trying to build a substancial and winning Network Marketing team right? So you need to target those that are in the G.A.M.E. People that are at least TRYING to make it happen.

You can join company groups on Facebook, Ning Sites for Marketers, Relative groups on Linked in… and we could keep going.

Step #2: Start a genuine exchange…

Don’t send a message with 4 different links for each of your companies lol.

Be real.

Step #3: Getting to Know Each Other

Take a quick second to look through their profile. Find something you can relate to, whether it’s there city or state, their hobbies.

“Thanks for accepting my request (Or some similar greeting). I was looking through your profile and see you’re in Columbus. Our good friends are doing some fantastic things up in Columbus! Always great to connect with other leaders. How long have you been in the business?”

Step #4: After you’ve built a dialogue up and have some rapport with your new friend you can bring up your business.

“What business are you in? We’re in the Gold and Silver Business, and with the momentum OH has… always looking to build relationships with leaders out there. Let’s have a chat! What’s the best number to reach you at?”

*We Always Like to Ask for a Phone Number… Most People Say Yes and then You have an open door to build a solid relationship!*

We are not simply Internet Marketers folks. We are Network Marketers.

Talking to people on the phone

builds the GLUE.

This can be a Cut/Paste and Send process folks. So you can find a Targeted Group or Network and get to work making connections.

And don’t be married to Facebook!

Go to Google right now and type in “Top 100 Social Networks“. There are TONS of untapped markets out there.

So no excuses as to why we all shouldn’t be out there building relationships!

Okay, I sometimes slack off a little bit when it comes to accepting all the Group Invitations for various MLM companies and opportunities that I get. I am going to admit that I had upwards of 250 group invitations waiting for me to decide on.

As I clicked through them, decline, decline, decline… nothing stood out to me.

I was absolutely shocked that not one single person had bothered to include a personalized message actually inviting me to the group or showing me any value.

Some of you may not get invited to quite as many groups as I do, but out of 250 invitations there wasn’t one person that bothered to include a message. How many people include a personal message on the invitations you receive? None probably.

You don’t have to write a personal message to each person… but once you’ve invited all of your contacts and you see that little box at the bottom that says “Add a Personal Message”… do that! Add a personal message!

Let people know you’re a real person and give them a snippit of how your group will help them. It’s that easy.

By simply changing this ONE thing, I guarantee people will be hitting “Accept” more often and your Facebook Group numbers will explode.

-  Never talk or write something bad about a company or a product or a person. Even though the internet has 1,668,870,408 users on it it’s still a small place. Meaning word can travel fast about social media and search engines if you are talking bad about something or someone.

After a lovely Italian dinner out with my parents, before Toby and I depart for Tampa, I come home and check my Facebook. We have been talking a lot lately about effective marketing strategies on Facebook so when I logged in and saw this notification I knew immediately an article must be written and this must be shared with the Internet world.

Imagine this, 200,000 people are joining an MLM home business every single week. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the Internet is exploding Network Marketing. So here you have all these new MLM distributors floating around the Internet, trying to figure it out.

Word to the Newbies: DO NOT DO THIS.

Take a look at the 2 following pictures and then let’s go over the mistakes one by one.

For the people that don’t know me, I am not a negative person by any means. By highlighting these mistakes, my only goal is to help people. By learning from the mistakes of others you are able to better your marketing knowledge and your success.

Mistake #1: Our friend Nick (who’s last name shall remain a mystery) does not even have a Picture. We are in the relationship business and people cannot build trust with a white silouette on a light grey background. People do business with people they know, like, trust. Get a Picture in your Facebook Profile, if it’s the least you can do.

Mistake #2: Is his comment relevant to the current discussion? Don’t throw a business pitch for your MLM home business anywhere there’s an empty text box. Read the content you are posting on and offer insightful feedback. We generate a solid amount of leads for our MLM business just from adding value in our comments.

(To our surprise we noticed the READ MORE button and Bam… the novel unfolded)

Mistake #3: I did a quick word count and nearly 700 Words. No one is going to read a comment post on a wall that is 700 words. If writing an article, the suggested length is between 400 and 700 words. This is for a full value packed article on your blog and other article directories, not a 1 inch comment box. This comes back to the fact that we are Professional Internet Marketers… not the used car salesman. Be the invited guest.

If you are using Facebook to market your MLM home business you need to know this. In life we all know that you get one chance at a first impression. This is especially the case in Social Networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn.

People are looking for leaders, not pitchers. It’s human nature to want to follow a leader. If someone saw our friend Nick post that on my wall, would they look at him as a successful business owner or a faceless icon on a screen spamming about a juice?

So how do we tap into it? If you haven’t noticed there are a lot of fellow Networkers utilizing Facebook the wrong way.We get countless wall posts and messages pitching us on the latest and greatest “Business Opportunity” and we are sure you see the same thing. Are we not in the relationship business? Why does that change when we’re online?

People are not looking for another problem (Business); they are looking for a solution to their existing problem (Business). Facebook offers MANY Applications, but search specifically for HTML Profile Box. Once it’s uploaded it will show up in your “Boxes” Section. See those little pencil icons in the top right of each box? Click that and select “Move to Wall Tab”.

Now pay attention here. You can insert your HTML code into the box; HOWEVER you must use the Raw HTML code.

And it is that simple!
