Where were all the jobs?

Even though I felt alone, I knew that I wasn’t. 31,000,000 people were jobless just like me, with families to feed, houses to keep, and winter hydro bills soon to come.

I knew with this amount of people unemployed and the state of the economy right now, I would have to do something a little bit different. Finding a job wasn’t going to happen.

It was an email titled…

“Lost Your Job? There are no Jobs… What’s the Answer? – The Internet”

I had used the internet of course. I knew how to check emails, send emails, my wife had even got me set up on Facebook. I could Google things here and there. But could I make an income from it?

I decided to open the email and research this.

It spoke about building your Financial Freedom and the growth of the Home Based Business industry online. With 31 Million jobless, there were thousands upon thousands joining every week. The Internet was connecting billions all over the globe and suddenly a light went off in my head and I believed this was the solution I had been waiting for.

I acted on impulse most likely driven by my need to get some kind of income coming in. I purchased my starter kit at $250.00 and was excited to start building my business.

That excitement didn’t seem to last long. Sarah’s face looked tired as I sat her at the kitchen table. I tried to explain the email to her, and how people were making great incomes with their home based businesses. I told her eventually she could quit her job too and how wonderful it would be for us both to be home together with the girls.

“Give your head a shake John. The Internet?!”

This was not the reaction I had expected.

“You need to get a real job. Our money is almost gone, our phone bill is due, and you just spent $250.00 on a SCAM.”

With all the stress, and the emotional rollercoaster I’d been riding on for the past 2 months I didn’t have the energy to put up a fight. So I slept on the couch and she went to bed.

The next morning breakfast was silent between us, but the giddy laughter of the girls hid our tension. The pressure from last night’s argument and the innocent sparkle in Katie’s smiling face motivated me to make this $250.00 work.

So I did exactly what I thought I should do, and went back to the address book. I made list of all the people under “A” and sat down and called them.

Four hours later and now on the letter “M” not one single friend had welcomed my call, let alone wanted to join me on this business venture.

“John, is that one of those pyramids?”

“Aren’t those illegal, John?”

“What have you gotten yourself into?”

“Those things never work!”

Day in, day out, I heard the same rejection over and over again. I headed out to the malls to see if I could do any better with people that didn’t know me … face to face.

The holidays were approaching and the malls were busy with shoppers. I was in my best suit and looking as sharp as I knew how. With Thanksgiving dinner looming over my head, people must have seen the desperation on my face because everyone rushed past me without a glance.

This was hopeless. The only person willing to talk to me was a kind old lady who smiled at me and asked me if I knew where the winter jackets were located.

I headed home without one single phone number. With every number from A-Z crossed out in my black book, I knew this was the end.

I pulled a seat at the table and rested my forehead against the cold surface. I could hear the girls approaching faintly from the street.

Katie burst through the door with a laugh and a bit of a stumble.

“Daddy, Daddy! I made you a Turkey today in school with these Popsicle sticks! Cause tomorrow is Thanksgiving.”

Trying to hold my tears back, and knowing there would be no Turkey this year I pulled her up into my arms and said, “That is the best looking Turkey I’ve ever seen. I love you Katie.”

With the girls in bed and my wife upstairs in the room that we used to share, I was downstairs staring at a blank screen. This computer was supposed to be my solution, not another problem.

There was no money left so I went to the website where that first email had been sent. For the past 2 nights I had been up all night clicking through sites trying to build free credits so I could send an email, like the one I had received, to thousands of people.

As I clicked, and clicked, and clicked… I tried to think about what I could write. Telling people about my business hadn’t worked. Telling them how much money we could make hadn’t worked.

What was the answer?

As the title says Layla and I are going to talk about how to explode your MLM business online by simply looking in the mirror. We often share marketing tips and strategies to online MLM success, but this one is different. Ok you will have to utilize more online strategies than  just looking in the mirror but that’s where it start’s. And If you don’t know where to start, how are you going to get to the end?

As I was shaving today looking into the mirror on this Beautiful Canadian Thanksgiving morning, I was thinking you know our success only started to come about when we took a long look at WHO we are, WHO we want to be and how others perceive US.

In the beginning of our MLM career we would be chasing everyone that moved and breathed, friends, family members or even strangers off the street.  We would try to sell them to join us in our MLM business. We felt desperate and that is NO way to run your business if you want to find MLM success.

Layla and I started doing a lot of reading, books on self – development, the MLM Industry, the Guru’s in it, the mind and it’s wealth, and tons of ebooks on online marketing tips from  to Ad copy to SEO. Also around the same time we let go of emotions attached to prospecting, you know the “rollercoaster”. Of course we still had lots of passion for what we were doing and our company and the Industry as a whole. But we let go of the thinking that every person we prospected needed to join us so we can start making money.

Layla and I turned our mindset into “they need us”, NOT “we NEED them”.

When you are out and about prospecting do you make the common mistake of saying to your self “oh this person would be so good Network Marketing”? By doing this you put preconceived notions of success on to someone and when they turn out to do nothing you are crushed and the rollercoaster emotions starts again.

You should get this into your head and write this down “Those that you think will, won’t and those that you think won’t, will”

How do you pump up your value level? How do you become the Hunted? How can you make yourself a Branded Leader on the Internet?

Knowledge is Power.

If you can speak to a prospect and teach them one thing they didn’t know about Online MLM Strategies, you have made yourself valuable. The undeniable truth is that most people are not marketing their MLM online properly. They are searching for online success, but have no idea where to look. If you can set yourself apart from this pack, and lead them to the promise land of free leads and teach them real marketing tips to generate traffic and sales, you become to Guru.

It all starts with the Mirror though. As you learn more, as you are taught by the best of the best, that person in the mirror will change. Your confidence will evolve, your posture will adapt, and suddenly people are calling YOU. This is what we all want, but how many of us have the determination to really get there?

Evolv is a brand new MLM company that is hitting the online scene this October.

Who is Evolv?

Evolv is a “Revolutionary” bottled water company developed by a team of scientists and practised entrepreneurs. Their unique selling point is the increased oxygen properties infused with this natural spring water. This MLM company is putting heavy focus on the Internet and online strategies such as Web 2.0. The Evolv management team is made up of Brent Hicks, Trey White and Anne Bodak Smith. They promote that they have 75 years of collective experience in the MLM industry.

With every living organism needing water for survival, the bottled water industry is currently an $8 billion a year industry, and that is just in the United States. You can see why Evolv and Trey White would want to capitalize on this market especially in the MLM field.

Did you know that 24% of bottled water is really just tap water? Tap water actually  undergoes more scrutinized testing than bottled water. Seems like it should be the other way around, right?

After reading countless Evolv sales pages, we must commend them on their strong push towards online marketing strategies. For example, their Facebook and Twitter ideas really show that they are paying attention to Social Media marketing. Another aspect they are developing is SEO and PPC training. It fantastic to see an MLM company leading with these cutting edge online marketing strategies from the beginning. Although there are not many details about the specifics of the online marketing strategies that will be offered, it is good to see that it has been presented in their initial game plan.

It is a refreshing change to see company providing training on the online marketing strategies, however they do still point all of the traffic back to a self replicated MLM company website. This might be the best tactic for Evolv but not for the Independent MLM business owner.

Evolv’s comp plan is set up like a traditional Binary structure with new codings to build both depth and width with a binary volume and an executive check match. Evolv has your typical Builder Bonuses, Fast Start (Initial Order) Bonuses, and Rank Advancement Bonuses. There is also, what they call a “DNA Coded Bonus” which to the untrained eye looks very complicated. It seems intentionally complex as to confuse new distributors so they are unsure of how exactly they are getting paid.

The Evolv sales page markets the compensation plan as an infinity paying pay plan. Upon an in depth review of the comp plan, its states on several occasions that you are capped out in many of the bonuses.

Cost: $55.00 + tax/shipping per case (24 bottles).

With the average case of bottled water ranging from $3.00 to $6.00 some might think this could be a hard sell. Obviously you have to pay more for the oxygen infused water, but doesn’t $55.00 for a case of water seem a bit unreasonable? Our views are objective since we have not personally tried the product or seen anyone that has. So maybe it is worth the high price, but we’ll let you make that decision.

If you are considering joining Evolv, how are you going to distinguish yourself from all the other new Distributors? Promoting an Evolv website is not the way. How are you going to avoid looking like just another Prelaunch Start-up MLM company rep that we all get spam from on a daily basis? How are you going to position yourself as a leader that people will trust and follow into such a risky endeavour? 99% of Start up MLM companies don’t make it past their first birthday.

How to succeed quickly in any MLM opportunity.

Do not lead with the company or the product, instead make yourself the main attraction. You can do this by providing valuable content and solutions to struggling MLM Networkers.

No matter what opportunity you are in or how great your comp plan is, that’s not why people will get involved. Individuals will follow you and your business when you can show them how they will benefit from working with YOU. And that’s it.

Simple concept that so many people just don’t get.
